Crimes of War: Iraq

Richard Falk, Irene Gendzier and Robert Jay Lifton
May 2006     ISBN: 1560258039

Crimes of War: Iraq is an astonishing collection of essays that delve into such phenomena as the torture at Abu Ghraib--and the doctors who facilitated it; the toxic combination of flawed military policy, counterinsurgency, grief and anger that leads ordinary people to commit atrocities; the testimonies of veterans that lay bare the fatally flawed strategy of the US mission in Iraq, and the growing unease and psychological problems suffered by men and women engaged in combat.

With contributions by Philip Zimbardo, Cindy Sheehan, Arundhati Roy, John Prados, Anne-Marie Slaughter and Eric Herring, among others, Crimes of War: Iraq reveals disturbing parallels--as well as differences--between the United States' tragic war in Vietnam nearly forty years ago, and our current nightmare in Iraq.
